Amulet making workshops

A series of workshops were organized to make footfall amulets with different groups of participants, creating situations that constitute a collective response to being surveyed in the city. The amulets themselves will not break footfall systems, nor they would affect the economical powers that they represent: the problem of urban quantification and observation will not be solved by a technical solution. The amulet workshops offer a first site to discuss together surveyance systems and the impact they have on the city, creating a moment to share how they work technically, and how it is possible to create noise in them. Etching esoteric wireless antennas from copper plates, casting amulet-bodies with resin, forming an object that will be charged and carried in city strolls, manage to break the sense of powerlessness that surveyance technology casts on inhabitants. The collective activation of amulets happened in a series of walks to carry noise making amulets in the public space.
